Two Postdoctoral Positions in Evolutionary Developmental Biology of Fish – Rutgers the State Univers

The Nakamura Lab in the Department of Genetics at Rutgers University is seeking two postdoctoral researchers (pending NIH council review) to investigate the genetic and developmental mechanisms underlying fish diversity and the fish-to-tetrapod transition.
Our lab integrates functional genomics, genetics, embryology, and comparative anatomy across diverse vertebrate systems, including actinopterygians (e.g., spotted gar and zebrafish) and chondrichthyans (sharks and rays). We welcome applicants with strong backgrounds in developmental biology, evolutionary biology, genomics, genetics, or related fields. Experience in fish embryology, high-throughput sequencing, or bioinformatics is a plus but not required. The starting salary of these positions is about $62,000/year, which is subject to previous experience.
Rutgers University is located in New Brunswick, NJ (45 minutes from NYC), within a vibrant research corridor offering extensive collaborative opportunities. The lab maintains active research connections with the American Museum of Natural History and the Marine Biological Laboratory.
Earliest start date: Fall 2026 (negotiable)
