The Department of Biological Sciences, Graduate School of Science, The University of Osaka invites applications for a Professorship from outstanding researchers conducting innovative research in any area of the biological sciences at the molecular, cellular, organismal, or population level, or in interdisciplinary fields at the interface of biology and physics, mathematics, or chemistry. The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and demonstrate scientific leadership both nationally and internationally. In addition to research, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching general education courses across the university, as well as in undergraduate and graduate programs.

The successful candidate will lead an independent research group and promote original research activities. The candidate will also be responsible for teaching and supervising students at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of Biological Sciences, Graduate School of Science. Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental and university operations such as entrance examinations, committee work, university-wide general education courses, and organizational management.

(1) A doctoral degree or equivalent professional expertise and/or achievement in the above field/s
(2) Excellent research achievements in the related field/s
(3) Business level or above Japanese and English language proficiency

Upon appointment, the successful candidate will be expected to form new research group by selecting and hiring one fixed-term faculty member (Associate Professor, Lecturer, or Assistant Professor with a maximum term of 10 years). An additional faculty member is expected to become available from FY2031 onward.
